Scholarship Opportunities

In an effort to provide opportunities for continuing education and professionalism for all North Carolina Municipal Clerks, several organizations have instituted educational scholarship and grant opportunities.   

North Carolina Association of Municipal Clerks College Scholarship Fund:

Provides assistance for higher learning through a College, University, or Trade/Technical School.

  • Submit completed applications to North Carolina Association of Municipal Clerks, Scholarship Fund Committee, 434 Fayetteville Street, Suite 1900, Raleigh, NC 27601.
  • The application must be postmarked by April 15.

North Carolina Association of Municipal Clerks IIMC Certification School Scholarship:

Provides financial assistance to qualified applicants who, without assistance, would be unable to attend the Clerks' Certification Institute offered by the UNC School of Government. For many clerks, the completion of such a program is essential in order to receive the prestigious designation of Certified Municipal Clerk from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) and for entry into the Master Municipal Clerk Academy. International Institute of Municipal Clerks, Certified Municipal Clerks (CMC):

PURPOSE:  To encourage professionalism of Municipal Clerks and Deputy Clerks (or related titles) by establishment of a scholarship program to pay the registration fee (up to an established maximum) for those whose municipality cannot fully pay the costs of participation in an accredited International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) Institute.   

 

International Institute of Municipal Clerks, Master Municipal Clerk Academy (MMCA):

PURPOSE: To improve the professional performance of the Municipal Clerk and Deputy Clerk (or related titles) by awarding scholarships at an accredited International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) Academy Program. Academy Scholarships may be awarded for use at either an IIMC Conference or any recognized Institute Academy Program.   

 

Municipal Clerks Education Foundation (MCEF) Education Grants:

PURPOSE:State Provincial Association Grants For Education
The State Associations may use these Grants for educational purposes.  

 

Municipal Clerks Education Foundation (MCEF) Distance Learning Scholarship:  

PURPOSE:Scholarships For IIMC Distance Learning Programs  Priority will be given to individuals who have not yet received their Certified Municipal Clerk designation (CMC). Additional information on the IIMC scholarships and grants is located on the IIMC Web site.

Local Government Federal Credit Union  (LGFCU) College Scholarship:

The LGFCU annually offers 16 one-year scholarships to graduating high school seniors and post-secondary students enrolled full-time and part-time at an accredited university, community or technical college. Awards range from $500 to $1,500, payable in one installment. 

 

Local Government Federal Credit Union  (LGFCU) School of Government Scholarship Award:

The School of Government Scholarship award is for local government employees to apply towards conferences, classes, and  seminars offered by the UNC School of Government.   

The UNC School of Government offers scholarships as a source of funding to municipal clerks in need of financial assistance who have been unable to secure assistance from other sources. As a general rule, these scholarships are not given to clerks who have already been awarded other scholarships. Additional information is included on application materials from the UNC School of Government. 

All proceeds from the Silent Auction at the Annual Summer Academy will go toward the IIMC Clerks Certification School Scholarships.
